Basic Bicycle Maintenance

This training is for you if you would like to learn how to look after your bike and carry out simple maintenance. The basic maintenance course is provided at the subsidised cost of £10, thanks to TFGM.

You will learn:
• About the parts of your bike and what they do.
• What to check before you ride
• How to adjust the saddle, handlebars, brakes and gears
• How to mend punctures.

Led by a bike maintenance expert, you’ll be in a small group with other beginners in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. It’s a hands-on session which will give you the confidence and skills to keep your bike on the move. It’s best to bring your own bike to work on, but we can lend you one if necessary.

Intermediate Bicycle Maintenance

This course is for you if you have a basic knowledge of bike maintenance, but want to extend your skills to take on more complex tasks and save money on repairs. The intermediate maintenance course is provided at the subsidised cost of £30, thanks to TFGM.

You will learn how to:
• Adjust your brakes
• Adjust and index gears
• Inspect and replace cables
• Check and maintain your chain
• Carry out routine servicing.

Led by a cycle maintenance expert, you’ll be in a small group with others of similar experience in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.  It’s an intensive hands-on session which will give you the confidence and skills to keep your bike in top condition. It’s best to bring your own bike to work on.
